With the first month of a new decade under our belts, we find ourselves already into February. February is more than a short month, a month filled with cold and snow, or the month of love – it’s the month of the heart. This month is a time to reflect and educate ourselves on the importance of our cardiovascular health, and what we can do to keep ourselves healthy and prevent any cardiovascular illnesses or diseases.
Did you know that heart disease affects approximately 2.4 million adults in Canada, and in the United States about 649,000 people die from heart disease each year – that’s one in every four deaths! In the United States cardiovascular disease is the number one leading cause of death for both men AND women, and the second leading cause of death in Canada. Think to yourself; do I have a family member, friend, or acquaintance who has been affected by cardiovascular disease? It’s quite common today, but there are things you can do to ensure you take care of your cardiovascular health.
During Heart Month, Reset Zone will be releasing mini-blogs in collaboration with Rz expert, Cathrine Page, to promote cardiovascular awareness, provide tips, and help you stay healthy to safeguard your heart.
Sometimes our hearts are a little offbeat. Full of emotional distress, sadness, anger or just pure disappointment. It is challenging to find ways to release these emotions and give a little strength back to the heart at the same time.
For the last 30 years, I have studied ancient arts from the East, Tai Chi, Qigong, Meditation and more. I even had the opportunity to share studies in Namo Buddha, Nepal, with the monks while I was on a medical mission there.
We shared many different practices from the East; one of the most profound practices I learned was Healing Sounds. There are healing sounds for each of the organs. These sounds are a vibration that assists the body in moving out stagnated emotion and enrich the body with clean fluids and energy.
The heart sound is one of my favourites; it allows me to move out stress and invigorate with happiness. This sound is individualized; it is tuned to the frequency of who you are. That sound is unique only to you, your body and your spirit.
The sound is broken into two parts. First, the shape of the mouth that guides the energy to the organ and the second a base note that you attune to your own body, raising the frequency higher or lower until you feel it resonating in your organ.
I love the heart sound because it is so easy to remember. The mouth shape is “HA” just like laughter, bringing joy and mirth to the heart and spirit.
Below you is the practice of this sound, found on the Reset Zone App.
Much light and love,
