Recently, I read Robin Sharma’s book, the 5am Club, and was absolutely mesmerized by the insights and value I took from it.
It was one of those books that you just didn’t want to end. At the same time, I was eager to finish in order to learn more about the rituals and habits of those who are successful and most fulfilled.
There was value in every page. A tale about a young entrepreneur, aspiring artist and oddball billionaire that not only was absolutely hilarious, but also incredibly inspiring and moving. Sharma takes you on a journey that feels like you’re literally on it.
Stimulating, empowering and most of all, enjoyable to read. That’s the true impression I got from it, after reading it not just once… But twice!
After doing a book review of it on my Instagram page, I decided to dive back into the many lessons that Sharma shared throughout the text. There was just so much to go through and so many notes to make! As a result, I decided to dedicate this post to the book and how it complements the Reset Zone App perfectly.
Allow me to explain.
Every morning, Sharma conducts a routine of greatness; one that involves maximizing and optimizing your healthset, heartset, mindset and soulset.
Unlike many of the other self-help books that I’ve read, Sharma understands the importance of not just an amazing mindset, but ALL of the interior empires we need to focus on in order to show up as our best selves.
Most books of this genre focus solely on the mindset. But books like the 5am club and apps like Reset Zone dive into uncharted territory, taking a holistic approach to greatness and wellness respectively.
It’s tools like these that I truly believe are revolutionary, and the future of our lives. As I dive deeper into my own journey and ultimate passion for wholeness and well-being, I understand now that it’s all pieces of one big, glorious puzzle.
A puzzle that when every piece is aligned, can transform your life from the inside out, starting with the inner world, in order to maximize and transcend the outer. That’s what I loved so much about this book because it’s the cold, hard, reality.
So without further ado, let’s dive into the 4 interior empires that Sharma shared and how the Reset Zone App can be used as a tool to enhance each of them!
The first interior empire is our Healthset. In the 5am club, the billionaire shares with his students the power of starting your day off with sweaty, physical activity.
Among many of the benefits of exercise, the one that really stood out to me was the reduction of cortisol, the hormone associated with stress and fear.
Stress is linked to disease and a slew of other problems down the road, so exercising first thing in the morning for even 20 minutes significantly improves your health. It reduces cortisol when the hormone is at its highest and replaces BDNF, which is a hormone that repairs cells damaged from stress.
As Sharma points out , “Your life will feel and work 100 times better when you’re in the finest physical condition you’ve ever been in.”
Much like exercise, the Reset Zone App used regularly can help you not only reduce cortisol, but also maximize your healthset. By becoming aware of our thoughts, we can make the right decisions in the moment, in order to maximize our health and life.
This part in particular really hit home for me. As someone that’s very passionate about helping others maintain a positive mindset, one of the most important aspects is emotional well-being.
In the 5am Club, Sharma recommends moving into the next part of your morning routine, as a means to maximize your heart. In other words, utilizing the early hours of dawn for deep stillness, contemplation and solitude, before the craziness of our day takes over.
A practice he recommends doing during this period is the “pre-performance blueprint.” A simple written statement regarding the ideal day you’d like to have. This is a practice I’ve done for the last few weeks and have already seen tremendous benefits from. I find it not only keeps me on task and disciplined, but focused and present during my daily endeavors.
Aside from that, Sharma recommends journaling as a practice to work through negative emotions, frustrations, past experiences and resentment. This is where the Reset Zone App comes in handy.
By using Reset Zone, we can work through our emotions and become more aware of the labels and meanings we place on things. Reset Zone allows you to feel into your emotions, which as Sharma stated, “is the quickest way to manage difficult emotions… By facing them head on.”
Moving on to interior empire number three: mindset. In the 5am Club, Sharma suggests spending at least twenty minutes of our first hour awake, deepening our knowledge to improving our expertise to ensure we’re growing each and every day.
“Leadership on the outside, begins within.” – Robin Sharma
This pocket of the morning is described by building upon our foundation of constant learning, in order to better ourselves. You see, we don’t achieve success in our lives based on what we want. Rather, we attract it into our lives based on who we are and who we’re becoming.
The best investment is always the one we make for ourselves. Self-knowledge and understanding ourselves on a much deeper level is the epitome of this investment.
Using the Reset Zone App on a regular basis can help us build the emotional resiliency to work through our emotions, challenges and failures, in order to improve our minds and better ourselves.
As Gretchen Rubin, author and speaker famously said, “the better you know yourself, your own nature and your own temperament… The better you are able to bring these elements into your day-to-day life.”
And last but certainly not least… Our soulsets. The very entity that makes up our lives and our experience in this world.
“Health is the crown on the well person’s head, that only the ill person can see.” -Robin Sharma.
I believe at the end of our lives, it’s not really about how productive we are or even how “busy” we made our lives to become. Rather, it’s what we do with our time, who we spend our time with, and the quality of that time that ultimately matter most.
Not only did Sharma’s book inspire me to keep pushing myself to become the best version of myself that I possibly can. But it also deepened my passion for helping others do the same.
Tools like the Reset Zone App help us tap into the higher part of ourselves that allow us to be our most happy and passionate selves. It helps fuel the fire beneath, and ultimately translates into the results with out.
It’s individuals like the creator of Reset Zone, Heather Skoll, and the author of the 5am Club, Robin Sharma, that are the leaders of our society and aspire to create a better world for us all.
And as for us… That primal drive to greatness is within all of us. Manifested in perhaps a different way than a book or an App, but nevertheless, a potential that all of us have at our very fingertips, should we make the decision to dive into it.
Massive thanks to Robin Sharma for the amazing read and a huge thank you to Heather as well, for the incredible app that helps ignite the four interior empires within all of us!
To you and your success always,
