If there is a time to reset, this is it. This new year, 2020, has literally started with a bang. But not the kind of bang that we wish for. Between the raging fires in Australia causing extreme devastation and destruction to much of the country, displacing millions of people, and killing millions of animals, to the drone strike on an Iranian general and retaliation in the form of missiles on a base that houses US troops, followed by a horrific plane crash on a flight from Iran killing all 176 passengers. In retrospect, I think to myself, how can each and every one of us not be distressed?!
I am waiting for the birth of my first grandchild. I am filled with excitement and anticipation; on the other hand, I am overcome with grief and fear for the state of the world in which my grandbaby will be arriving.
Every single day of 2020, I have had to reset. I start with a mantra, “I begin my day with love in my heart”. Then, the moment I open my phone, I am hit by the news. When I take a moment to reflect, I realize how much of an impact this has had on my system, causing my heart to race and my stomach to sink. Even though I am not personally, nor directly affected by these big bang moments, there is an effect. The effect is the fear response that flushes through the body and the sense of compassion that I feel for those directly impacted.
I cannot imagine that anyone is exempt from feeling something. Whether you identify it as fear, anxiety, stress, anger, or sadness, the body is affected. If you are not taking a moment to realize what is happening, then you are not giving yourself a minute to release the effects of emotional energy and hormones in your system.
The Reset Zone app can be a very useful and vital tool to use. Right at your fingertips, you can take a minute to use a technique that helps to move the emotion and hormones through your body and help take some of the “edge” off.
